Lactation consultants

Vanderbilt lactation consultants are available to assist mothers with expressing breast milk or learning to breast feed with their baby. VUMC lactation consultants perform consultations in the nursery as well as on an outpatient basis and by telephone.

The VUMC Women’s Education and Lactation Center sells breastfeeding equipment and rents hospital grade breast pumps

Baby of Mine store in VCH on the 4th floor near NICU 936-6745 or 936-1414

Baby of Mine store in VUH  (396-3434) on the 4th floor on the Postpartum unit and Women’s Education and Lactation Center (936-1414)

For information regarding Tenn. Care recipients and breast pumps please call 936-1414. If a baby is separated from the mother such as the baby is in the NICU, a request for a pump to be given to the mother will be submitted to the Tenn. Care Insurance company and approval must be received for the mother to receive a pump.

For WIC recipients, moms can call their local WIC office for assistance with breastfeeding and also in some instances obtaining a pump.
